  • The brains of newborns distinguish between caresses

    [22 Aug 2017] The ability to distinguish between different kinds of caresses on the skin already exists at a very early age. This is evident from a study by the Sahlgrenska Academy, in which the blood supply in brains of infants 6 to 10 weeks old was investigated.

  • Rich less cooperative than poor

    [22 Aug 2017] Things like ethnicity, wealth and profession define who we are and our position in society. In his thesis, behavioural economist Andrea Martinangeli explored cooperation among different groups. By using experimental methods he found that especially rich individuals tend to cooperate among each other.

  • New book addresses 250 years of freedom of expression in Sweden

    [21 Aug 2017] Last year Sweden's Freedom of the Press Act, the first legislation of its kind in the world, celebrated 250 years. The newly released book, 'The Legacy of Peter Forsskål. 250 Years of Freedom of Expression', sheds light on the history of free speech based on Peter Forsskål and his 21 theses on civil liberty.
